SENATOR study kick-off meeting
28-11-2012 | The SENATOR study will investigate the effect of the application of the START and STOPP criteria on improvement of efficacy and safety of medicines in older patients. The kick-off meeting is planned at 29-30 November 2012 in Munich, Germany. Centres in several countries of the European Union will participate. SENATOR is a collaborative project funded by the European Commission under the 7th framework programme. Denis O'Mahoney, UCC Cork, Ireland, is the coordinator of SENATOR. Paul Jansen of Ephor is one of the advisors of this important project. »»
EMA's Geriatric Medicines Strategy in NEJM
21-11-2012 | In 2011 the European Medicine Agency adopted the geriatric medicines strategy, marking its commitment to improving the understanding of how best to evaluate the benefit-risk ratio for medicines in old patients. In March a conference was organized at the EMA in London with cooperation of several members of the Geriatric Expert Group. On 22 November 2012 an article is published in the New England Journal of Medicine to promote the geriatric strategy and to advice regulators to ensure that effective and safe drugs reach the patients who ultimately use them. »»
